From j.wall at shutesbury.org Wed Feb 3 15:32:49 2010 From: j.wall at shutesbury.org (j.wall@shutesbury.org) Date: Sat May 29 17:51:23 2010 Subject: [Announce] Road closure Message-ID: <20100203153249.ajz2z2myu8k88csg@webmail.shutesbury.org> This is Sergeant Justin Wall, of the Shutesbury Police Department with an important road closure announcement. The tree work scheduled for last Monday on Montague Road was not fully completed. On Friday February 5, 2010, Asplundh Tree Service will continue the work trimming trees around the power lines on Montague Road. Due to the width and curvature of the road, the area around 398 through 481 will need to be closed from approximately 8:45 am to 1:30 pm. This work will not interfere with the school bus pick up or drop off, or the response of emergency vehicles. There will be a police officer with the crews to assist any residents within this area in getting to or from their house. If you use Montague Road for commuting, please use an alternate route. This work is required and the Town can not postpone or stop the work. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Sergeant Justin Wall Shutesbury PD 1 Cooleyville Rd Shutesbury, MA 01072 Station: 413-259-1279 Dispatch: 413-625-8200 Fax: 413-259-1772 From recycling at shutesbury.org Thu Feb 4 11:21:26 2010 From: recycling at shutesbury.org (Recycling Coordinator) Date: Sat May 29 17:51:23 2010 Subject: [Announce] "Trash Talk" - Feb. 4, 2010 Message-ID: <20100204112126.2l89qta3s4o444ss@webmail.shutesbury.org> TRASH TALK FROM THE RECYCLING COORDINATOR ? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? WHEN YOUR TRASH ISN?T PICKED UP ? ??????????? This morning, for no apparent reason, the trash haulers didn?t pick up my trash.? It was out there on the road the night before, in a trash barrel, in a yellow bag, and not too heavy.? The guys picked up my recycling but left the trash.? When I realized what had happened I threw the trash bag in the trunk of my car and drove out to the end of Montague Rd., where the recycling haulers often pile full bags for the trash truck.? I made it in time!? Now I?ll have to find out why they didn?t pick up my trash.? ??????????? Last week someone on Montague Rd. didn?t make it in time, and two full bags of trash were left at the end of the road after the haulers departed.? The bags just sat there for a couple of days.? That?s bad.? Crows and dogs will get into trash bags left out like that and cause a terrible mess that nobody will want to clean up.?? So, what do we do when the haulers miss us or we get our trash out too late?? Put it back in a trash barrel or in the garage or on the porch and wait until next week.? Please don?t leave the bags out on the road.? We?ll just have a big mess. ? FREE STUFF ON THE ROAD ? ??????????? From time to time people put things they don?t want, but are still in good condition and might be useful to others, out on the road.? In fact, the week before each Bulky Waste Day is ?swap week,? and the Recycling Committee encourages folks to put such items out on the road to decrease the bulk on Bulky Waste Day.? But if you don?t also put out a sign that says ?Free Stuff? it might not be clear whether you want people to help themselves or whether you hope the trash haulers will take it away.? No amount of wishful thinking will induce the haulers to take a microwave or a couch, so please put a sign out if you?re inviting people to look at what you?re offering.? And if stuff remains after a week or so, it?s probably just bulky waste.? So take it off the road and save it for Bulky Waste Day. ?
